PUBG developers are reworking one of the weapon types
Users of the popular battle royale PUBG traditionally prefer assault rifles in matches — they are used by over 50% of gamers. This is indeed the most versatile combat tool at all distances. But a special place in the heroes' arsenal is occupied by marksman rifles. They rank second in popularity, yet offer significant advantages at medium and long ranges. It is these that the Krafton company employees decided to focus on to address balance issues.
How will marksman rifles change in version 37.1?

If we evaluate the growth in popularity of MRs (also known as DMRs) since PUBG's early days, we see a progression from 14.8% to 17.2%, while assault rifles (ARs), while remaining the most relevant weapon type, have still lost ground (51.2% now versus 68% previously). A trend has already emerged: users start matches with ARs but switch to DMRs at the first opportunity, as they are more powerful. All this statistics led the developers to consider making adjustments, which they detailed in an open letter to fans of the online shooter.
First of all, it's important to know that DMRs serve campers well — people who take hidden positions and wait for runners from the shrinking blue zone. To prevent every match from turning into sniper duels and to increase action, it was decided to reduce MR damage by approximately 12%. They will no longer be able to kill with two shots — at least three accurate hits will be required, and achieving this at long range won't be easy. Also, all models of this weapon type, except for the «Dragunov» and Mk14, will have their rate of fire reduced by 45% — maintaining rapid single-shot fire at opponents will also prove challenging.
